Sullivan sings to No. 2 spot

Clayton State University (CSU) senior Christina Sullivan placed second in the Upper Division Adult Women (requirements are ages 26 or above with four or more years of voice instruction) category of the Georgia Chapter of the National Association of Teachers of Singing 2014 Student Auditions, held at Georgia State University on Saturday, Nov. 8. 

Sullivan, a mezzo-soprano and graduate of Sandy Creek High School, is pursuing a bachelor’s degree in music with a concentration in voice performance and a minor in dance at CSU.

Sullivan is unusual in that she is an undergraduate music major in the Upper Division Adult Women’s category, which is often populated by older adults. Sullivan, a voice student of Associate Professor of Music Christina Howell, has appeared in several leading roles with Clayton State University’s Music Drama Workshop, including Mad Margaret in Gilbert and Sullivan’s “Ruddigore,” and Luce in Rodgers and Hart’s “The Boys from Syracuse.” “Congratulations to Christina [Sullivan], and also to Christina [Howell],” Dr. Susan Tusing, chair of the department of visual and performing arts at CSU, said. “Terrific news.”
