Teams move on in volleyball playoffs

Five local teams are rolling into the round of 16 in the GHSA state volleyball playoffs after strong outings this week.
In AAAAA action, Starr’s Mill swept three straight games Wednesday against Hiram while McIntosh did the same against Alexander.

The AAAA bracket saw Sandy Creek win three in a row over Arabia Mountain and Whitewater pick up a road win against Grady by winning three out of five.
In the A classification, Landmark moves on by virtue of a sweep over Whitfield Academy. Our Lady of Mercy fell to Mt. Paran Christian in three straight.

The next round is Tuesday, with Starr’s Mill at Dunwoody and McIntosh at home against Sequoyah. Sandy Creek will host Heritage while Whitewater travels to Marist. Landmark plays at Hebron Christian.
