Members of First Baptist Church of Senoia recently welcomed their new senior pastor, Dr. John Talley, a native of Columbus, Ga. and a graduate of Columbus State University.

Talley has a major in English literature and minor in communications. He continued his education earning both his master of divinity and doctor of ministry degrees from the Southern Baptist Theological Seminary in Louisville, Ky.

Talley has been married to his wife, Mallie, for 26 years. She is a graduate of Mercer University and is an orthopedic nurse.

They have three children: Dylan, a senior at the University of Georgia’s School of Agriculture; Chappel, a sophomore at the University of North Georgia who hopes to pursue a career in nursing; and Ben, a sophomore at Landmark Christian School.

Talley comes to First Baptist Church of Senoia after serving 20 years as pastor of First Baptist Church in Winder. He served as pastor of First Baptist Church in Fort Valley from 1990 to 1994 and at Woodbury Baptist Church from 1987 to 1990.

He has served as president of the Pastors’ Conference in the Georgia Baptist Convention and currently serves on the state convention’s executive committee.

An excerpt from Dr. Talley’s Philosophy of Ministry states, “The church must glorify the Lord Jesus Christ by engaging in powerful worship, encouraging and equipping believers to grow, and bringing people into a personal relationship with Him.”

First Baptist Church is at 41 Johnson St. in Senoia. Ministries for all ages are available including Bible studies, missions groups, AWANA, Youth Impact, and choir.
