Fayette County officials will present the second annual “Fayette: Face-to-Face” event Friday, Oct. 24, from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. at the Fayette County Public Library in downtown Fayetteville.

Local citizens are invited to stop by and meet the county’s leadership team as well as representatives from all 27 county departments. Also in attendance will be members of city departments in Fayetteville as well as representatives of the Fayette County Chamber of Commerce and Fayette County School System.

“This is an excellent opportunity to bring life to our town by providing a forum for discussion and networking to promote resource sharing throughout the community,” said Chris Snell, director of the Fayette County Public Library.

County departments will have tables set up so that they can explain the services they provide to the community, and staff will be available to answer any questions posed by citizens.

The various departments represented at the event will include the county administrator, Board of Commissioners, tax assessors’ office, tax commissioner, permits and inspections, planning and zoning, county extension service, parks and recreation, health department, environmental health, elections, justice center, finance, human resources, fire and emergency, 911, information systems, public library, marshal’s office, sheriff’s office, environmental management, water system, building and grounds, public works, and purchasing.

In addition, there will be a “Touch a Truck” event in the library parking lot where kids of all ages can get up-close and personal with larger-than-life truck, heavy construction and public safety equipment, unique cars and specialty vehicles.

Participants will be able to meet the vehicle owners and operators as well.

Grilled hot dogs and drinks will be provided amid music presented by the blues duo of Larry Griffith and Stephen Talkovich.

“This is a great forum to exchange ideas and develop dynamic relationships among the different departments, the school system, the city and our great community,” said county administrator Steve Rapson.
