Cynthia S. Albitus, “Cindy,” 57, of Fayetteville, passed away Tuesday, August 19, 2014.
Cindy was born on June 24, 1957 in Frankfort, Ind., and grew up in Forest Park, Ga. For the past thirty-one years she has resided in Fayetteville.
She was preceded in death by her father Melvin “Pete” Eaton; her step-father D. Ray Allgood; and her brother, Larry J. Eaton.
Survivors include her loving husband of twenty-four years Dennis A. Albitus; daughter Abby Albitus, daughter-in-law Ashley Holcomb, and grandson Zachary; son Nicholas Albitus; mother Nancy Allgood; sister Kathe Leo; and sister-in-law Jane Fanslow.
For fourteen years Cindy served the banking community, becoming a vice-president of the C&S Bank, and later, as a commercial lender, and tax preparer. She helped co-ordinate the torch relay for the Olympics in Fayetteville in 1996, actively raised funds for the Battered Women’s Center in Atlanta, and worked tirelessly for the United Way. For the past five years, Cindy served as an intake officer for the Clayton County Sheriff’s Department. Cindy loved her family (Zack!), reading, her Shih Tzu puppies, and time spent at their mountain home in Blue Ridge.
Visitation was held Saturday, August 23, 2014 at Mowell Funeral Home, Fayetteville. The funeral service was held Sunday, August 24, 2014 at 3 p.m. at the Chapel of Mowell Funeral Home, Fayetteville, with cremation following. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Cindy’s name to the American Heart Association.
