A Fayetteville man attempting to sell an iPhone to a perspective buyer Aug. 9 was the victim of an armed robbery by three men.

Fayetteville police Det. Mike Whitlow said the 21-year-old victim had put the iPhone up for sale on Craigslist and was contacted by a buyer who wanted to meet at the Weatherly Walk apartments on Ga. Highway 54 East.

Once at the scene at approximately 3 p.m., the victim was met by three men demanding that he give them the phone, Whitlow said.

The victim entered his car and attempted to leave the area but was blocked by one of the suspects who produced two handguns and pointed them at the victim, Whitlow said.

The three men then robbed the victim of the phone and his wallet, said Whitlow.

The victim subsequently flagged down an officer patrolling the area and provided a description of the three men.

The suspects were described at a dark-skinned black male, 5’11” and wearing a black tank top; a light-skinned black male, 5’6” wearing a blue shirt; and a black male, 5’8” wearing a red shirt.

Whitlow said one of the suspects has been identified and investigators are in possession of a warrant for his arrest.
