Update – Aug. 10, 9:55 p.m.: The life of a Peachtree City man and that of his brother-in-law also living in Peachtree City were claimed in the crash of a Cessna 150 on Aug. 9 shortly after taking off from Falcon Field.

Albert E. Ensell IV, 57, and his brother-in-law Charles Ronald Kephart, 50, died in the crash, according to Coweta County Coroner Richard Hawk. Kephart had an Alaska drivers license, though Hawk said he had been living recently in Peachtree City.

Hawk said the Federal Aviation Administration and the National Transportation Safety Board are investigating the crash, adding that it could take a week or more to determine the cause.

Original story: A plane crashed off Ga. Highway 85 just inside Coweta County in the early morning hours of Aug. 8 after taking off from Falcon Field in Peachtree City.

Few details are known at this time though Coweta County Emergency Management Agency Director Jay Jones said the crash resulted in two fatalities.

Jones at 8:30 p.m. said Hawk was in route to the scene. Hawk later said it took until approximately 11:30 p.m. to recover the two men.

Aside from the darkness and rainy skies, the recovery effort requires deliberate action because the plane landed in a large tree with power lines in the immediate vicinity, Jones said.

Jones said the plane departed Falcon Field around 6-7 a.m. with some fog present. Officials with the Federal Aviation Administration at approximately 6 p.m. asked public safety officials in Peachtree City and Coweta County to conduct a search for the plane that was scheduled to land in Savannah but never arrived
