Grant Thomas Herron, 32, of McDonough, passed away Saturday, July, 19, 2014.
Grant attended Fayette County High School where he was a standout athlete. He also attended Hargrave Military Preparatory School in Danville, Va. and received a football scholarship to Central Connecticut State University. He was an accomplished craftsman with a love of friends, family and nature. Grant was employed as operations manager of ProBuild’s newly opened component facility in Villa Rica, Ga.
He was preceded in death by his paternal grandparents Marlene & Francis J. Herron and maternal grandfather Martin Macalak.
He is survived by his mother Kim M. Herron of Fayetteville; father Stephen J. Herron of Atlanta; brother Bryce (Joni) Herron of Senoia; fiancé Amanda Moss of McDonough and her son Landen Moss; maternal grandmother Anna Macalak of Fayetteville; nephew & niece Brooks & Josie Herron of Senoia; and godmother & aunt Susan Klein of Charlotte, N.C.
A funeral service will be held Thursday, July 24, 2014 at 1p.m. at the Prince of Peace Lutheran Church, Fayetteville. Mr. Herron will lie in state from 12 to 1 p.m. prior to the service. Pastor Justin Kollmeyer will officiate. The burial will follow at Westminster Memorial Gardens.
The family will receive friends Wednesday from 5 to 8 p.m. at the funeral home.
