The Methodist Men of Hopewell United Methodist Church held their annual Chick-N-Que on Saturday, May 17, and sold nearly all of their 850 barbecued chicken halves.

The first cooking shift, from midnight to 6 a.m, was manned by the Methodist Men and male members of the youth group led by Hopewell’s youth director, Stephen Simon. David Hoyt, president of Hopewell Methodist Men, stated that the youth performed well and he was surprised how mature and responsible they were.

Hoyt said, “I was pleased to work alongside these hard working future Methodist Men. Now that we know what an asset they are,we’ll include them in more of our activities.”

The annual Chick-N-Que is the largest fundraiser for the organization and helps fund many of the mission projects the Methodist Men sponsor. Proceeds from this year’s event will be used to help the homeless, hold events for men recovering from drug and alcohol addiction, assist in mentoring programs for incarcerated men and many other worthy causes.

The church is at 351 Jenkins Rd., in Tyrone, directly across from Sandy Creek High. For more information on the Methodist Men or church activities, contact the church office, 770-306-7537
