The Taste of Living History is today and Sunday in downtown Fayetteville.  The event offers a glimpse into what life was like in Fayetteville’s earliest days.  On the grounds of the Holliday-Dorsey-Fife Museum, just one block west of the art show, visitors can witness many live-action displays of historic trades including a, potter, needlepoint demonstrator, storytelling and much more.  Civil War reenactors will also have a campsite set up and will conduct rifle drills throughout the day.  For those craving more historic facts, admission to the museum is free this weekend, however donations are welcomed.

The 29th Annual Rose Show is today and tomorrow from 1 p.m. to 4 p.m. at the Fayetteville Church of Christ Fellowship Hall. Come see hundreds of exhibition roses of all varieties and many beautiful rose arrangements. Rose bouquets

The Fayette Fine Art Show – aka the Old Courthouse Art Show is today. For over 40 years running, the show consists of approximately 75 artists from Fayetteville, surrounding cities, counties and states.  On both Saturday and Sunday on the grounds of the Old Courthouse lawn, visitors can see and purchase many styles of Artwork including watercolors, oil paintings, pencil drawings, portraiture, clay, glass, jewelry and mixed media.  Entertainment on Saturday will include a special performance from noon to 1 p.m. by the Peachtree City Wind Ensemble, as well as music provided by a live DJ throughout the weekend. The kids will also have their own children’s art area where artwork is featured from each of the county’s schools.  At the centerpiece is a large mural for all children to put their own artistic touches with paint and color.  The Art Show hours are Saturday from 10am – 6pm, and Sunday from 11am- 5pm

The 13th Annual Taste of Fayette featuring local restaurants selling samples of their finest offerings is today. “Tastes” range from 50  cents to $3.each and will come from a variety of vendors.  Awards will be given for the “Finest Taste”, “Finest Treat” and “Most Amazing Booth”.  All food is sold on a token system only, so plan to convert cash or credit card to tokens at two separate token tents.The Taste of Fayette kicks off Sunday at Noon and runs until 5pm.  The event is presented by Fayetteville Main Street and Kaiser Permanente.

A free Sorority Rush Information Session is today at 1 p.m. at the Phi Mu Fraternity National Headquarters in Peachtree City.  The special guest speaker is Jill Moore, the Director of Greek Life and Advisor for the Panhellenic Council at Auburn University. This session is conducted annually by the Atlanta Southern Crescent Alumnae Panhellenic Association (ASCAPA)
All area high schoolsenior & junior girls and their parents are invited to attend and learn about the benefits of sorority membership, what to expect during rush, and how to choose the best sorority. Attendees are also told how to use ASCAPA’s rec service to get all the recommendations they need.  www.ascapa.org and click on Recruitment. There will also be a Fashion Show with local sorority collegians modeling fashions provided by Lizard Thicket of Peachtree City and Blue Moon Boutique of Newnan. Door prizes will also be awarded during the session.

Join the Southside Cycling Club at 7 p.m. for a ride. The ride starts from Peachtree City Hall. The International Ride of Silence is a silent slow-paced ride in honor of those
who have been injured or killed while cycling on public roadways. The distance will be 10-12 miles. Helmets must be worn to participate.

A traditional Memorial Day ceremony is today at the historic Fayetteville City Cemetery beginning at 11 a.m.  The annual Memorial Day ceremony is open to all residents of Fayette County and will be held among the flag decorated graves of American veterans buried there.  The cemetery is located adjacent to Fayette Board of Education on Stonewall Avenue. The event is hosted by Fayette County Post 105, The American Legion. You are invited to bring your own lawn chairs and blankets. For more information, call 770-631-0771.
