Jerry Melvin Whittle, of Peachtree City, born December 16, 1931 died May 6, 2014 after a long battle with Parkinson’s disease.
His wife, Diane K (Smith) Whittle, his parents, Melvin and Lettie (Shrum) Whittle, and his siblings, Robert Whittle and Mae (Whittle) Guest preceded him in death. He is survived by his sons, Gary Whittle of Atlanta and Greg Whittle of Peachtree City; and grandsons, Austin and Connor Whittle.
Jerry lived a full life, attaining his BS Engineering degree from what is now Auburn University in 1956 as a member of Kappa Sigma fraternity. He was an Eagle Scout and served for 2 years in the US Navy. He married Diane in July, 1957, and spent his career as a manager of information systems with Westinghouse and Galion Iron Works.
During his life, Jerry enjoyed hobbies including bible study at Peachtree City United Methodist Church, gardening and Auburn and Kappa Sigma alumni activities.
A memorial service will be held Thursday, May 15th at 4 p.m. at Peachtree City United Methodist Church.
