Mr. John Malcolm Mikels, Jr. age 78 of Jonesboro, Ga. passed away May 4, 2014.
He was born in Bloomington, Ind. to the late John Malcolm Mikels, Sr. and Oneta Myrtle Ridge Mikels.
He was preceded in death by his sister, Jacqueline Sue Rowland.
Johnny faithfully served his country in the United States Army stationed in Germany and was a retired truck driver. Johnny enjoyed driving, fishing, working puzzles and was an avid reader, especially his newspaper.
Survivors include his children, Karen Blackmon of Jonesboro, Patricia (Bill) Kaufman of Dahlonega, Dawn (Doug) Drew of Peachtree City, Greg Mikels of McDonough; grandchildren, Brandon, Zachary and Lindsay Blackmon, Andrew and Olivia Kaufman, Kyle and Courtney Drew and Aaron Mikels; great grandchildren, Preston Feltman, Kayden Blackmon and Kendall Mikels.
Funeral services will be conducted Wednesday, May 7, 2014 at 2 p.m. from the Chapel of Haisten Funeral Home. Pastor Dave Riley will officiate. Friends visited the family Tuesday from 6 – 8 p.m. at the funeral home.
Contributions are asked to be made to the Alzheimer’s Association in memory of Johnny.
