Dennis John Berkelbaugh, 72, of Fayetteville, passed away April 8, 2014.
He was a veteran of the U.S. Marine Corps. For 27 years he worked as a manager of Eastern Airlines and later for Progressive Lighting in Braselton, Ga. Mr. Berkelbaugh was a volunteer fireman and EMT in Brooks, a former Fayette County Commissioner from 1981-1984, and more recently a volunteer at Fayette Youth Protection at Gracie’s Closet/Bloom. He was a member of Fayetteville First United Methodist Church.
Mr. Berkelbaugh was preceded in death by his parents Fred & Rose Berkelbaugh.
He is survived by wife Melinda Wellborn Berkelbaugh; son Douglas Joseph (Shirlaine) Berkelbaugh of Dallas, Texas; daughters Page (D.J.) Ziobro of Fayetteville and Nicki (Stephanie) Little of Flowery Branch; grandchildren D.J. (Sarah) Berkelbaugh of Newnan, Anna Lin Berkelbaugh of Dallas, Texas, Parker, Preston, & Pierce Ziobro of Fayetteville, and Ethan Hargrove of Flowery Branch; great-grandchild Dylan Berkelbaugh of Newnan; brother Fred (Diana) Berkelbaugh of Pittsburgh, Pa.; sister Rose Ann (Tony) Ranft of Vancouver, Wash.; sister Bonnie (Jim) Bradburn of Pittsburgh, Pa.; brother Tom Berkelbaugh of Pittsburgh, Pa.; and brother Pat (Patti) Berkelbaugh of Dallas, Texas.
A funeral service was held Friday, April 11, 2014 at 11 a.m. at Fayetteville First United Methodist Church, Fayetteville. Reverend Mark Westmoreland and Pastor Trey Jarrard officiated. The burial followed at Westminster Memorial Gardens, Peachtree City. The family received friends Thursday from 4:00 to 8:00 p.m. at the funeral home.
