An international cat show is this weekend. The event is hosted by Southern Sophisticats at the Atlanta State Farmer’s Market Exhibition Hall in Forest Park. The show runs from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. on Saturday and Sunday. Tickets are $6 for adults, $5 for seniors and $5 for children over 6. Children under 6 receive free admission.

The first Saturday breakfast/meeting of the Fayette County Republican Party is today at the group’s headquarters at 174 N. Glynn St. in Fayetteville. The 5th Annual Breast Cancer 1-Day Walk is today at 9 a.m. at Drake Field.  Entertainer Melody Knighton will be there to entertain as Lucille Ball and our own Lindy Link will be there singing and entertaining. Family fun day is from 11 a.m. – 5 p.m. at Rowland Road Pavilion in Brooks. Bring your family to this festive day for a great cause to benefit two of the children of Fayette Woman art director, Heather Ward, who have been diagnosed with an autoimmune disorder called PANS/PANDAS (Pediatric Acute-onset Neuropsychiatric Syndrome), a complicated and challenging disorder. Treatments are expensive and the family fun day will help to offset costs for the children and raise awareness of this difficult disease. Tickets are $15 and include lunch and all kids’ activities, with a maximum cost of $70 per family. This year’s Huddleston Hustle. The Kids’ Fun Run (.5 mile) begins at 8:00 a.m. followed by the Kids’ Marathon (1 mile). The 5K race will begin following both of these events. An Easter Egg Hunt sponsored by the Optimist Club of Peachtree City and the Peachtree City Fire Department is today, with registration starting at 9:30 a.m. and the hunt beginning at 10:30 a.m. Come visit with the Easter Bunny, enjoy games such as the Moonwalk, face painting and the fishing game. The sights and sounds of The Greatest Generation will come alive when the Commemorative Air Force (CAF) Dixie Wing hosts the eleventh annual “WWII Heritage Days” April 26-27. The history festival will be held at The Historical Airpower Facility, Atlanta Regional Airport-Falcon Field in Peachtree City from 9 a.m.-4 p.m. both days.The weekend will again feature historic aircraft, antique cars, vintage military vehicles, guest speakers, education displays, demonstrations by reenactors portraying Allied and Axis troops, and activities for school age kids.  Highlights include an opening ceremony recognizing local WWII veterans and a 1940’s hangar dance.
The theme of the 2014 opening ceremony, Honoring The Women of The Greatest Generation, will pay tribute to women who served in the military and on the Home Front.  Activities begin at 9:30am with a patriotic music program performed by Bombshells United. Suggested donation for “WWII Heritage Days” is $5, Children 5 and under free.  “WWII Heritage Days” will be held rain or shine. Please no pets. The Fayette County Board of Realtors in partnership with Rachel’s Dance Connection is excited to announce the second annual “Fayette Celebrity Dancers” charity benefit today at Starr’s Mill High School.  Show time is 7p.m.  Doors open at 6:30 p.m. This year’s Celebrity Dancers represent a wide array of Fayette County businesses, industries and arenas.  All are volunteering their time and talents to partner with Rachel’s experienced dancers for an unforgettable show.  Ten couples are already hard at work practicing weekly to learn their dance routines and show off their ability to captivate an audience.

The Senoia Area Historical Society (SAHS) is sponsoring an easy 3-hour bicycle tour of historic Senoia for bicyclists of all ages and abilities.  The tour is great for people interested in the history of the area, interesting architecture, tales of residents past and present, and the sites where such films and TV episodes have been shot. The tour starts at 9 a.m. It will begin and end at the SAHS Headquarters/Museum at 6 Couch Street in Senoia, where riders will have the opportunity to view a brief history of the town and images of some of Senoia’s key citizens and structures from the past, then ride through the Senoia Historic District, making stops in front of homes and churches. Recommended donations are $15 for adults and $10 for children under 13.  All proceeds benefit the Senoia Area Historical Society.  Donations are tax deductible.  Helmets are required.  Due to frequent stops, walkable cycling shoes are recommended.
