WHITEWATER (boys lacrosse) defeated Grady 18-11 Wednesday, coming out strong and gaining an early lead while stifling a late comeback attempt.

FAYETTE COUNTY (baseball) defeated Lamar County 2-1 Wednesday night. Austin (Bobo) Spruill pitched a complete game five-hitter and the defense made only one error. Kameron (Bam-Bam) Barlow was credited with several exceptional defensive plays. Wahid Ali went 3-for-3 with three stolen bases, an RBI and a run scored. Coach Frank Dixon credited defense and stellar pitching as the difference in the game.

WHITEWATER (boys golf) won over FAYETTE COUNTY this week. Low scorers for the Wildcats were Heath Alread (43), Matt Geise (44), Matt Hood (45) and Andrew Bankston (45).

STARR’S MILL (baseball) downed Northgate 6-2 Wednesday night to improve to 5-2 overall and 1-0 in region play. Ryan Avidano pitched six scoreless innings and struck out 11 to get the win while hitting a pair of homers and driving in five runs. Adam Goodman pitched the final inning and doubled in the game. Patrick Mullins reached base all four times from the lead-off spot with three walks and a double.

WHITEWATER (girls soccer) played Allatoona last Friday night to a 2-2 tie. Emily Peterson and Ally Smithwick scored for the Lady Wildcats, who led most of the match until a hand ball in the box gave Allatoona a direct free kick which was converted in the final minute.

FAYETTE COUNTY (girls soccer) lost 8-0 to Alexander Tuesday.

STARR’S MILL (girls soccer) won its region opener 10-0 over Mt. Zion Thursday night. Molly Moroney had three goals and an assist, while Jenna Currin had Sarah Yoss added two goals each. Riley Clark and Ashley Broderick had a goal and an assist apiece, and Lauren Yoss scored a goal as well. Rachel Catlett had two assists and Ansley Peurifoy had one assist.
