Joe Lamar Lynch, 76, of Fayetteville, passed away February 27, 2014.
He was born April 28, 1937 in Griffin, Ga. to the late Joseph Franklin Lynch and Nettie Lou Reid. He graduated from Griffin High School in 1955 and also attended Georgia Tech. Mr. Lynch retired from Georgia Power Co. with over 35 years of service as a design engineer. He was a deacon emeritus at Fayetteville First Baptist Church, where he was a member for over 50 years. He enjoyed photography and travel.
He is survived by his wife of 53 years Janice T. Lynch; daughters Melanie (Robert) Burton of Fayetteville and LuAnn (Steve) Tyndall of Cleveland, Ga.; son J. Frank Lynch of Savannah; 6 granddaughters Emily Tyndall and husband Andrew Leverette, Erin (Clayton) Bean, and Robin, Shelby, Brittney and Rachel Burton.
A funeral service was held Sunday, March 2, 2014 at 2:30 p.m. at the Overton Chapel of Fayetteville First Baptist Church. Reverend Jim Thomas, Reverend Glenn Stringham, Reverend Jim Battles and Reverend Chris Perkins officiated. The burial followed at Camp Memorial Park, Fayetteville. The family received friends Saturday from 4 to 7 p.m. at the funeral home.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Mission Fund at Fayetteville First Baptist Church.
