Hopeful Church volunteers have planned a workday for February and ask the public to “join the effort to preserve this historic Fayette icon established in 1825.” All volunteers are appreciated.

The historic north Fayette church is in bad need of repairs and the cemetery needs clearing. A group of volunteers has formed and has been busy working to restore the church and grounds.

On Saturday, Feb. 15 from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m., volunteers will gather at the church cemetery for a work day, clearing underbrush, burning leaves, and cutting small trees. Volunteers are requested to bring rakes, clippers, blowers, chainsaws and other yard tools.

Chair Judy Chastain says, “You are welcome for any amount of time. Do not feel you need to stay the full time. Every bit helps. Please let your friends know and invite them to join. Safety is our primary concern for all volunteers. Please be careful. Do not over do it. Take your time.”

Parking is available at the church or across the street at the community center.

The volunteer group holds monthly meetings to discuss the clubhouse rentals as well as any updates on the business of the church.

Both the community center and the cemetery are on the corner of Ga. Hwy. 92 North and New Hope Road, north of Fayetteville.
