A much-loved husband, father, grandfather, son and brother, Mr. David Herrin Sr., 70, of Griffin, Ga., passed away on Sunday, February 2, 2014 at Somerby Assisted Living of Senoia.

He was born in Nahunta, Ga. on October 18, 1943.

He is preceded in death by his parents, William Kay Herrin and Bessie Sapp Herrin; brother, Harry Herrin. Mr. Herrin attended South Georgia Tech in Americus, Ga., and spent his career as an engineer for several telecommunication companies, retiring from Verizon Wireless. He was a devoted member of Rock Springs Church and the Seekers Sunday School Class. He loved sharing with others in the Food Ministry at Rock Springs Church. Mr. Herrin enjoyed walking his dog, George, and his passion was gardening, growing tomatoes and giving them to everyone he met. Mr. Herrin was a loving husband, father and especially loved his grandchildren.

Survivors include his wife, Dianne Stewart Herrin; children, Debbie and Mark Preston, Cathy and Shawn Laux, Aubrey Herrin and Lara Deni; grandchildren, Hannah, Stuart, Joshua, Olivia and Benjamin; brothers and sister-in-law, Ronnie and Valine Herrin, Larry Herrin; sister and brother-in-law, Wanda Jean and Charles O’Quinn; mother-in-law, Buren Stewart; sisters-in-law and brothers-in-law, Faye Herrin, Delores and Jim Merritt, Allen Stewart; several nieces and nephews.

Visitation for Mr. David Herrin will be on Saturday, February 8, 2014 from 1 p.m. until 2 p.m. at Conner-Westbury Funeral Home. Following the visitation a funeral service will be conducted in the chapel of Conner-Westbury Funeral Home. Dr. Benny Tate will officiate. Interment will follow on Sunday, February 9, 2014 at 3 p.m. in the Rob Lewis Cemetery in Nahunta, Ga.

In lieu of flowers the family has asked the donations be made to Lewy Body Dementia Association, Inc. 912 Killian Hill Road S.W., Lilburn, Ga. 30047 or to the Rock Springs Academy, Rock Springs Road, Milner, Ga. 30257 in memory of Mr. Herrin
