A rezoning that would allow a new six-lot subdivision on 217 acres off Ga. Highway 92 south in unincorporated Fayette County will be considered Thursday night by the county commission.
The proposal from Oaks, LLC is for a tract that abuts the highway and also Chapman Road. Part of the parcel also abuts the Flint River.
The parcel is currently zoned for estate residential and agriculture residential, and the rezoning is seeking the entire parcel to be designated A-R. The conceptual site plan includes two very large tracts of 84 and 66 acres each, along with four smaller tracts ranging from 11 to 23 acres.
The rezoning has been recommended for approval by the county planning commission.
Oaks LLC wants one access drive on Ga. Highway 92 but the Georgia Department of Transportation will have the final say on that matter, according to county planners. There are no plans to pave Chapman Road as part of this development.
The rezoning will be the subject of a public hearing before it comes up for a vote at the commission meeting, which starts at 7 p.m. Thursday in the county’s Stonewall government complex in downtown Fayetteville.
In other business, the commission is expected to:
• Approve a $1.6 million bid for asphalt for the 2014 calendar year with E.R. Snell Contracting of Tyrone;
• Approve a $270,000 deal for stone needed by the road department to maintain gravel roads;
• Approve a $280,000 bid for dump truck services for the road department; and
• Approve a staff recommendation to declare one of its three reserve fire pumpers as unserviceable because it would cost $18,000 to repair the cylinder liners. The change will allow the fire department to go from three reserve pumpers to two, and any revenue from the sale will go back to the county’s fire vehicle replacement fund.
