Friends of the Peachtree City Library invite the public to “American Pie: a Tour in Words and Music” from 7 p.m. to 9 p.m. Local authors Pat Butler, Sara DeLuca, and Paul Lentz will read from their recently published books. Music will be performed by Tom Watts, and will include selections from his recent album, “One Sweet Day.” This is an “after-hours event,” and only the front door of the library will be open.

The Senoia Area Historical Society is opening its doors at 6 Couch Street today at 7 p.m. for an evening of fun and frivolity.  A reception and preview begins at 7 p.m. with Southern-style hors d’oeuvres and drinks.  The auction begins at 8 p.m. and promises to be an eclectic assortment, including items of great value, of great beauty, of antiquity, of modest value but great utility, of sentimental value, of historical interest, and some that are just outrageous. In short, something for everyone on your list!

At 11 a.m. today,  the Fayette County Public Library hosts a free presentation by Victoria Wilcox, author of the historical fiction trilogy, “Southern Son: The Saga of Doc Holliday.” Wilcox will give a talk titled “Gone with the Wind Goes West: The Surprising Southern Heritage of Doc Holliday.” Copies of “Inheritance,” the first book of the trilogy, will be available for sale at the event, with a portion of the proceeds benefiting the Friends of the Fayette County Public Library. The program is free and open to the public. Light refreshments will be served, compliments of the Friends of the Fayette County Public Library.

It’s almost Thanksgiving, and State Representative Ronnie Mabra, District 63, is looking for homes for 1,003  turkeys. The Prostate Cancer Information Group will meet today at  7 p.m. at Cancer Wellness at Piedmont Fayette Hospital, 1267 Building (West Entrance), Third Floor, 1267 Hwy 54 West, Fayetteville, Ga.  The program will include a series of short videos that describe the use of PROVENGE®, an FDA approved treatment, that can reprogram a patient’s own immune system to attack prostate cancer cells. In conjunction with the opening of “The Joy of Christmas Pasts,” the museum will open at 10 a.m. and close at 4 p.m.

“O Christmas Tea” –  The Business Woman of Fayette and Coweta  will be having their annual event benefiting Community Welcome House, a safe haven from domestic violence. Community leaders, local artists and some hard working volunteers are coming together today to host the 7th Annual Chair-ity Event, a fundraiser for abused children living in the cottages at The Children’s Village at Christian City.  This popular event will be held in the ballroom at The Dolce Atlanta, on Aberdeen Parkway in Peachtree City. The Piedmont Newnan Hospital Auxiliary is holding its 26th Candlelight Tour of Homes Friday from 4 p.m. to 9 p.m.  This year’s tour will be highlighting five homes in the Historic Greenville-LaGrange district in Newnan. Proceeds from the event will be directed towards a $150,000 pledge for the establishment of a Healing Garden at Piedmont Newnan Hospital. This unique garden and water feature will be located to the right of the hospital’s front entrance with views from the chapel.  It will serve as a refuge of beauty, peace, and serenity for the community, patients, and staff. Tickets for this annual event go on sale November 8. Tickets and information are also available from Auxiliary members or by calling the Auxiliary Office at 700-400-2380. Tickets purchased in advance are $15.  On the evening of the event, tickets may be purchased at any of the homes on tour for $20.

Pearl Harbor Remembrance Day is today at the historic American Legion “Log Cabin”, 180 S. Glynn St. in Fayetteville near the Old County Court House.  The ceremony begins at 10 a.m. Community patriotic ceremony commemorating the anniversary of the Japanese attack on Pearl Harbor in 1941. Reenactment of the FDR’s famous speech to Congress following the attack, reading of the Presidential Proclamation, raising of a historic 48 star American Flag to honor the men and women of the “Greatest Generation” who served and those that were lost at Pearl Harbor.  The public invited to attend.

The annual Light Up Senoia event is today from 4 p.m. to 8 p.m.  Enjoy entertainment at the stage including Baton Twirlers, Christmas music, Fayette Fiddlers and more. The holidays are right around the corner! The city of Newnan’s annual Christmas parade is today beginning at 3 p.m. A major change has been made this year on the parade route, specifically the location to begin. The parade will start on Greenville Street below Salbide Street and follow Greenville Street into downtown, left onto North Court Square, right onto LaGrange Street and then continue to Newnan High School where it will disband.It’s “A Winter Wonderland” so bring on your magical snow!  The parade will include floats, walking groups, decorated cars and trucks, and marching bands.

The annual Candlelight Tour of Homes in Senoia is from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m. Tour five historic homes and a historic church. Enjoy light refreshments at the Senoia Area Historical Society. On Dasher, on Dancer, on Prancer… to the fifth annual Bedford Dasher 5K Run/Walk and 200m Elf Run today. The race will begin and end at The Bedford School, located at 5665 Milam Road in Fairburn.  93.3 The Joy FM will be broadcasting live from the race where there will be activities for the whole family including craft vendors, a bake sale, and a children’s Elf Run that includes a t-shirt, race ribbon, crafts and digital picture with Santa.
