Fayetteville Main Street is hosting a variety of Halloween season events on Saturday, Oct. 26 in downtown Fayetteville.

Starting at the Gazebo at 10 a.m., residents can shop at an extended Market Day that runs until 5 pm. With nearly 100 vendors, it will be easy to find something to purchase and get a head start on holiday shopping.

Joyce Waits, Main Street coordinator, says that Market Days have continued to grow and have been well received within the community. Many people this year have enjoyed shopping at Market Day where vendors have sold their homemade and homegrown products in record numbers. This will be the last Market Day of the year.

That same weekend also hosts a long-standing tradition for kids of all ages. The Great Pumpkin Festival and Trick or Treat on Main Street will be a fun spectacle around the square as families come downtown to enjoy hay rides, train rides, face painting, games and much more.

These activities will be interspersed between the Market Day vendors, and kids will be able to visit the vendor booths and downtown businesses for trick-or-treating from 3 to 4 p.m.

Beginning at 2:30, the dog costume contest is back this year and is sponsored by the Rotary Club. Applications are available at rotaryfayettevillega.com to register and get more information.

The kids’ costume contest will begin at 4 p.m. for children ages 13 and under, with prizes awarded in different age groups.

New this year, Main Street has partnered with Spinal Bifida of Georgia to include a kids’ costume contest ages 13 and under (wheelchairs and walkers welcome). Prizes will be awarded for first, second and third place. Contact Rebecca Joiner at [email protected] for more information.

Throughout the weekend, hundreds of decorated pumpkins will be on display across the street at the Old Courthouse lawn. The pumpkins are designed by kids from several Fayetteville area schools.
