Voters in Senoia will get only one chance to hear from all three candidates vying for the mayor’s seat on the Senoia City Council. That opportunity will come Oct. 17 at a candidates forum hosted by the Senoia Forums Group.

Councilman Larry Owens, Senoia Downtown Development Authority Chair Suzanne Helfman and retired Col. Don Rehman will square-off at the forum to be held in the courtroom of the Senoia municipal building located at 505 Howard Road. The forum will begin at 7 p.m.

The Senoia Forums Group, organized and developed by Senoia resident Joe Cannin, designed the forum to provide candidates the opportunity to express their views on city issues and answer questions submitted by Senoia residents and from members of the Senoia Forums Group’s questions committee.

Cannin said each candidate will be given time for an opening comment, to answer questions on city issues and to make a closing comment. Questions will be accepted from the forum attendees and will be asked, if time permits. Question cards must be filled out upon entrance to the municipal building. Questions must be directed to all candidates and only on city business and city issues. If the questions are not addressed due to time constraints, the candidates will respond by email or by phone.

The forum is sponsored by the Senoia Area Business Association.

The Senoia Forums Group will also host a meet and greet event for the two council seats for which there was no contested race. Those include Post 1 Councliman-elect Chuck Eichorst and Post 2 Councilman Jeff Fisher. The Oct. 24 event will be held at 7 p.m. in the courtroom of the municipal building.

The election will be held on Tuesday, Nov. 5.
