Martha Jo Boozer Johnston age 85, passed away on Wednesday, August 28, 2013, while living in Hoover, Ala. She was originally from Atlanta, Ga. where she was born December 15, 1927 into the family of Daisy and Vernon Boozer. She graduated from Girls’ High School.
Her beloved husband of 61 years was James Gordon Johnston who passed away on May 23, 2008. They lived in Atlanta, Owensboro and Louisville, Ky. and Birmingham as he was promoted through AT&T Corporation. Upon his retirement, they moved to Peachtree City, Ga. where they were active in Carriage Lane Presbyterian Church. In 2002, they moved back to the Birmingham area to be close to family.
She is survived by her son, James Gordon (Jim) Johnston, Jr. (Dot); her brother, Virgil Boozer, her sister-in-law, Gloria Johnston; her grandchildren, Katherine Elizabeth Johnston and James Edwin Johnston as well as many, beloved nieces and nephews.
A graveside service for immediate family members will be held at a later date in Atlanta.
In lieu of flowers, it was her wish that any donations be made to Carriage Lane Presbyterian Church, 101 Carriage Lane, Peachtree City, Ga. 30269.
