Wilbur Harold Peacock, age 83 of Blue Ridge

Mr. Wilbur Harold Peacock, age 83 of Blue Ridge, passed away August 2, 2013 at Piedmont Hospital in Atlanta.

Mr. Peacock was born July 26, 1930 in Morrow, Ga. to the late Parks Alexander Peacock and the late Alma Rebecca Mays Peacock. A member of the Blue Ridge United Methodist Church, he was preceded in death by loving wife of many years Patricia Posey Peacock, son, Darrell Peacock and first grandchild, Roby Lee.

As a young man, not only was Wilbur an Eagle Scout but he also served his country by enlisting into the Coast Guard. He then went on to earn his Masters Degree in education teaching high school math and coaching the girl’s basketball team. Later he became the Principle at the Lake City Elementary School. After he retired from education he went into business with his brother at Peacock Brother’s Construction. In addition to teaching in the classroom Wilbur taught Sunday School for many years. He enjoyed watching sports, the Braves and Georgia Tech were his favorite teams. He also enjoyed farming with his son-in-law.

Survivors include: daughter and son-in-law Dale and Bob Lee, son and daughter-in-law, Dean and Debbie Peacock, granddaughter, Jenny (Adam) Chandler, granddaughter, Valerie (Matthew) Woodrum, grandson, Parks Peacock, grandson, Will Lee, and grandson, Jake Lee, three great-grandsons, Wyatt Chandler, Case Woodrum, and Colton Chandler, also wife, Ruth Mull Peacock.

Funeral services were held Sunday, August 4, 2013 at 2 pm at the Blue Ridge United Methodist Church with the Rev. Doug Burell officiating. Interment followed in the Camp Memorial Park Cemetery in Fayetteville, Ga. Pallbearers included Parks Peacock, Will Lee, Jake Lee, Adam Chandler, Matthew Woodrum and Dwayne Peacock.

The family received friends at the Henry-Cochran Funeral Home of Blue Ridge, Saturday, August 3, 2013 from 6 pm – 8 pm.
