Mr. Carl “Steve” Steven Speir of Fayetteville passed away August 1, 2013.
Steve loved life; he could find something positive in any moment. Where Steve was, good times were found. He retired from his first career in insurance in 2007. Following retirement, Steve took on a series of hobbies and interests that kept him busy and in the company of friends and loved ones. The cliché that he never met a stranger fit Steve and he never said no when someone needed help.
Steve Speir was a beloved husband of 42 years, a caring father, a supportive brother, a fun-loving uncle, a loyal friend, and the best “Pa” in the world to his grandchildren. He will be missed greatly by all who knew and loved him.
He is survived by his wife Kay Speir of Fayetteville; daughter Stephanie Speir & Larry Van Rossum of Dallas, Texas; son Carl & Becky Speir of Senoia; son John & Amanda Speir of Senoia; grandchildren Ethan, Molly, & Shiloh Speir; brother Eddie Speir of Jackson; sister Pam Chambers of Fayetteville; brother Allen Speir of Jackson; and sister Lesa Lewis of McDonough; and nieces and nephews.
A funeral service was held Sunday, August 4, 2013 at 2 p.m. at the Chapel of Mowell Funeral Home, Fayetteville. The family received friends from 12 to 2 p.m. prior to the service.
