Officials from Coweta County and its municipalities want residents’ input on the county’s future transportation needs. To that end, officials will conduct public meetings on July 25, July 30 and Aug. 1 in five locations around the county.

County Community and Human Resources Director Tom Corker said Coweta County, along with the municipalities of Grantville, Haralson, Moreland, Newnan, Senoia, Sharpsburg and Turin, are developing an update to the Joint Comprehensive Transportation Plan, or CTP. The CTP is required for projects to be included and eventually funded through the regional transportation plan and focuses on roadways, bike and pedestrian facilities and transit.

Corker said public meetings have been scheduled in each County Commission district to provide an overview of the analysis that has been completed to date and solicit feedback from the public on Coweta’s transportation needs. Information presented will be identical at all meetings. All meetings are from 6-8 p.m. and will include an open house session to review boards, a presentation beginning at 6:45 p.m. and a question and answer session.

The July 25 meetings will be held at the East Coweta Senior Center located at 300 Howard Road in Senoia and at the Central Library located at 85 Literary Lane.

The July 30 meetings will be held at Madras Middle School located at 240 Edgeworth Road and at the Newnan Centre located at 1515 Lower Fayetteville Road.

The Aug. 1 meeting will be held at the Grantville Library located at 100 Park Drive in Grantville.

“The Comprehensive Transportation Plan is the tool Coweta County uses to map out its transportation goals for the next 25 years and then determine the best avenue for getting there,” said Commission Chairman Bob Blackburn. “I encourage all residents to participate in the process to help shape those goals by attending one of our five public meetings.”

Corker said an online version of the public meetings will be hosted on the county’s website at (http://www.coweta.ga.us/Index.aspx?page=1669) beginning Aug. 2.
