Mr. Austin, “A.U.” Williams, 90, of Fayetteville, passed away June 21, 2013.
Born June 13, 1923 in Blackshear, Ga. and raised in Sparks, Ga. He served his country during WWII in the US Army. Active Member of McDonough Road Baptist Church (formerly College Park Second Baptist) for over 70 years. He was a deacon, R.A. Leader, Sunday School teacher and served on various committees. Mr. Williams retired from NATB after 33 years and was an avid woodworker.
Mr. Williams was preceded in death by his son, Donald Williams.
He is survived by his wife of 72 years, Margaret Williams of Fayetteville; daughters Patricia Lukavsky and Brenda Morris (Ken ) of Fayetteville; grandchildren Scott Lukavsky (Susan); Mike Lukavsky (Kim); Eric Crisp (Kari); Amanda Ferrell (Chuck); great-grandchildren, Rachel, Daniel, Claire, Marissa, Ethan and Eli.
A funeral service was held Monday, June 24, 2013 at 11 a.m. at McDonough Road Baptist Church. Mr. Williams laid in state from 10 until 11a.m. prior to the service. The burial followed at College Park Cemetery. Dr. David Chancey, Dr. J. W. Wallis and Dr. David Smith will officiate.
The family received friends Sunday from 3 until 6 p.m. at the Chapel of Mowell Funeral Home, Fayetteville.
