Scott Carter, 50, of Fayetteville, Ga., formerly of Alcoa-Maryville, Tenn., passed away on June 9, 2013, following a rip tide current drowning on Wednesday, June 5, 2013.
He was a graduate of Alcoa High School in 1981 and will be remembered in the area of sports. While growing up, he was a faithful member of Monte Vista Baptist Church of Maryville and was very involved with the youth group.
Scott was employed by CVS as a store manager. Though he was a Georgia resident, he was a Tennessean at heart and an avid Vols sports enthusiast which he shared with everyone, especially his Dad. Scott was a family man, a true Christian, and was loved by everyone. He attended Southside Church in Peachtree City, Ga. with his family.
He was preceded in death by his grandparents John and Margaret Douglas, and Earnest and Cassie Carter, all of Alcoa.
He is survived by his wife Melissa; daughters Whitney and Landry; parents EJ and Brenda Carter; sisters Melinda (Rod) Owen of Fayetteville and Tamara (Jimmy) Fischer of Senoia; parents-in-law Robert and Faye McCartt of Harriman, Tenn.; as well as extended family, friends, and coworkers who will miss him greatly.
A funeral service will be held on Saturday, June 15, 2013 at 11 a.m. at the Chapel of Mowell Funeral Home, Fayetteville. Rev. Barry Thompson and Rev. Chris Patton officiated. The family will receive friends Friday from 5 to 8 p.m.
