This Thursday, Friday and Saturday, March 14, 15 and 16, members of the community can step back in time to The Marketplace at Providence United Methodist Church. The Marketplace is an interactive experience where children can have fun, do crafts, and ride a real camel and have snacks all for free. Marketplace hours are Thursday and Friday from 6-9 p.m. and Saturday from 4-9 p.m.
“We have some new activities and crafts this year but don’t want to give away any surprises so everyone will have to come and see for themselves!,” said children’s minister Cathy Fralish. “It’s a great chance for a family to have an evening of fun together for a couple hours while learning a little bit about what life was like back in Biblical days.”
“Our local Boy Scout Troop will help out by supervising archery this year (a returning activity) and the Soaring Eagles Homeschool students who meet at Providence, will once again be providing a drama piece so we’re excited to have both of those groups as part of this gift to the community,” adds senior pastor Warren Huddleston.
The climbing wall, petting zoo and perfume-making are all favorite activities that will be back again this year.
“Each year the entrance to the Marketplace changes — one year it was a time tunnel and last year it was an airplane, and we think this year’s entrance will once again be a lot of fun for the whole family,” says Fralish.
