Deputies nab man, 21, for attempt on girl, 14

A north Fayette County man has been arrested on charges of attempted child molestation in relation to a Feb. 1 incident involving Facebook and a 14-year-old Fayette County girl.

Julio Lugo. Jr., 21, of Club Drive off Milam Road in north Fayette County, was charged with attempted child molestation and electronic pornography and child exploitation, according to Fayette County Sheriff Barry Babb.

Babb said Lugo contacted the 14-year-old girl through Facebook during the school system’s recent winter break. Lugo sent illicit messages to the girl containing sexual content and was aware of her age, Babb added.

The investigation leading to Lugo’s arrest was initiated after the victim’s mother saw some of the communications between Lugo and her daughter and contacted law enforcement.

Lugo was arrested after attempting to work out the logistics of meeting alone with the girl to act on the sexual content described in the messages, Babb said.
