The public is invited to two Ash Wednesday services at Christ Our Shepherd Lutheran Church in Peachtree City. The services on Feb. 13 are at 12:15 and 7 p.m. The congregation will gather for a pot-luck soup supper at 6 p.m. in the Fellowship Hall. Pastor Fritz Wiese will preach at the services, which also include the imposition of ashes and communion. The Sanctuary Choir will provide music at the later service.
“Ash Wednesday is the beginning of the Lent, ‘40 holy days of special prayer, reflection, and spiritual discipline,’” explains Wiese. “Christians are asked to cleanse their lives of sin in preparation for the great feast of Easter. The ashes applied to the forehead of anyone who wishes them remind us that we are mortal: ‘ashes to ashes, dust to dust.’”
Christ Our Shepherd is on the corner of Ga. Highway 54 and Peachtree Parkway in Peachtree City.
