Dr. James Stewart and the board of trustees at Immanuel Baptist Theological Seminary recently named Connie Campbell Bratcher of Sharpsburg Poet Laureate and presented her with a plaque.

The plaque reads: “In recognition of your scriptural poetry and inspirational contributions to the arts.” Stewart, president of the seminary, read a poem from Bratcher’s third book, Inspirational Messages in Poetry ~ For a Clearer View, and afterwards made the presentation. Stewart has been an encourager and promoter of Bratcher’s poetry ministry and his endorsement is on two of her inspirational poetry books.

In one of his endorsements, Stewart compared Bratcher’s poetry to the hymns of the famous hymnwriter, Fanny Jane Crosby.

“Connie Campbell Bratcher’s inspirational poetry is more than great terminology,” Stewart wrote. “It is great in Biblical theological content and a challenge to live a more fulfilling life of obedience and holiness. Connie is to inspirational poetry what the late Fanny Jane Crosby was to Biblical hymnology. Anyone carefully reading her poetry will receive a distinguished blessing from the message of her book. Thank you, Connie, for writing for this Biblically needy and uninformed generation as well as the informed Christian.”

Bratcher is the author of three inspirational poetry books. The first, Inspirational Messages in Poetry~For a Deeper Faith, was published in 2002, the second, Inspirational Messages in Poetry~For a Closer Walk, in 2005, and the third, Inspirational Messages in Poetry~For a Clearer View, in 2011.

The books are available at Pam’s Hallmark in Peachtree City, Collector’s Corner in Sharpsburg and Scott’s Bookstore in Newnan.

They also can be ordered from any bookstore.

Bratcher also writes a daily inspirational poem on her Facebook page.
