Hugh Alvin Hancock, 72, of Jonesboro, passed away Jan. 10, 2013.
He was born in Meriweather County and worked with Blalock Oil.
He was preceded in death by his parents Mr. and Mrs. E. W. Hancock; sister Judy Tolley; brothers Jim Hancock, Tom Hancock and Warren Hancock, Jr.
He is survived by his wife Linda Hancock; daughter Lisa (Kenny) Garland of Jackson, Ga.; son Alvin (Pam) Hancock of Griffin, Ga.; son Scott Hancock of Jonesboro, Ga.; grandchildren (4); great-grandchildren (2); sisters Sue (Barney) Walker of Fayetteville, Ga., Marie Smith of Rex, Ga., Cecile Thomas of Fayetteville, Ga. and Barbara (Rodney) Owen of Fayetteville; brothers Frank (Cordie) Hancock of Griffin, Ga. and Bill Hancock of Jonesboro, Ga.
A funeral service was held Sunday, Jan. 13, 2013 at 2 p.m. at the Chapel of Mowell Funeral Home, Fayetteville. Reverend Gary Lewis officiated.
The burial followed at Camp Memorial Park, Fayetteville. The family received friends Saturday from 4 to 6 p.m. at the funeral home.
