A Newnan man has been indicted for receiving and distributing child pornography on the Internet, according to officials from the U.S. Attorney’s Office in Atlanta.
Justin Corley, 32, is charged with one count each of distributing child pornography, receiving child pornography and possessing child pornography by using “peer to peer” file sharing programs, officials said.
Corley was arrested in the course of his employment as a firefighter in Union City when it was determined that while logged in to the fire station’s Internet service, he had a file-sharing program open where he allegedly was offering to share images of child pornography to like-minded individuals, officials.
A subsequent search warrant executed in February revealed that Corley had not only distributed child pornography, but also had received and possessed it as well.
If convicted on all charges, Corley faces a minimum prison sentence of up to 15 years.
Corley has not yet had a chance to enter a plea in the case yet, though all persons are considered innocent until proven guilty in court. The charges are being brought as a part of Project Safe Childhood, a nationwide operation aimed at keeping kids safe from online exploitation and abuse.
