Customers of a new craft beer store will have a chance to sample the fare before making their purchase thanks to new regulations passed Thursday night by the Peachtree City Council.
The new rules are a nod to the new growler phenomenon where malt beverages are sold for off-premises consumption in containers of 32 and 64 ounces.
Customers would be limited to having no more than eight ounces per day, and the samples would be limited to two ounces each. Also they would not be allowed to remove open packages or unsealed growlers from the premises.
Growler businesses will have to seek a special growler sampling permit which could be revoked if there are violations of city regulations or laws.
Growler businesses also would be allowed to have up to two educational classes a week for up to two hours each.
The permit fee for growler sampling will equal the fee for applications to change a store’s alcohol license.
