Seven members of Fayette Presbyterian Church in Fayetteville traveled to Hayesville, N.C., in August to participate in a one week home repair ministry.
The ministry is called Neighborlove, which serves the disadvantaged (mostly elderly) residents of Hayesville and neighboring communities. Neighborlove was founded by Hein Vingerling, a former member of Fayette Presbyterian Church who now resides in the Hayesville area. The purpose of Neighborlove is to share Christian love through “action” to those in need.
Work performed for those served included rebuilding and replacing wood floors, sheetrock, interior walls, new kitchen cabinets, and exterior sets of stairways.
The host church, Hayesville Presbyterian, provided a place to stay and good church foods for the Fayette Presbyterian mission members. Evening meals provided were followed by devotion time and fellowship.
Before returning to Fayetteville the mission team also worshiped on Sunday together with the Hayesville Presbyterian Church.
The public is encouraged to join the Fayette Presbyterian Mission by contacting John Sackett, missions and evangelism elder, at john.sackett@msn.com prior to each year’s mission (usually held in the fall). To find out how to serve Neighborlove, contact Hein Vingerling at heinvingerling@yahoo.com.
