Tyrone sewer ordinance updated

The Tyrone Town Council in Sept. 21 in a housekeeping move approved a revision of the sewer ordinance to include the provision of sewer services to the new fire station on Jenkins Road and to the undeveloped Powers Court Medical property on the north end of Senoia Road. Both had been previously approved for sewer service but had not been listed in the ordinance.

Interim Town Manager Brandon Perkins said the ordinance revision was needed because a recent review of the areas approved for sewer did not list Powers Court Medical even though it had been previously approved.

“This issue came up recently when a representative from Powers Court Medical inquired about their sewer tap fees and we notice that their development was not listed. After a discussion with legal, we believe it would be prudent to update the ordinance to include all appropriate areas,” Perkins said.

The undeveloped Powers Court Medical area on the north end of Senoia Road and the new fire station just to the north on Jenkins Road had both been approved for sewer service some time ago, along with the Southampton and Rivercrest subdivisions, Perkins said.

The vote by the council was unanimous.
