UPDATE TO OUR READERS, Wednesday, Sept. 12, 4:35 p.m. — After printing problems earlier, The Citizen’s 23,500 copies have arrived in our warehouse and are being bagged for delivery later this evening.
“Our press run of 23,500 copies — usually completed by 11 p.m. Tuesday night in the Macon, Ga., printing plant — never got past the press crank-up stage because of a major component failure in the press and the subsequent failure of a back-up,” Beverly said.
“The repairs were made and the Wednesday edition will be available in boxes and for home delivery later today,” Beverly reported at 4:35 p.m. Wednesday.
Carriers will be distributing the papers this evening and tonight, Beverly said.
The Citizen’s Wednesday and Saturday editions are printed in Macon by the Middle Georgia Printing Cooperative.
“We apologize to our readers and advertisers for this unavoidable delay,” Beverly said.
