Sharpen your appetites and put on your dancing shoes. It’s time again for St. Christopher Hellenic Orthodox Church’s eighth annual GreekFest this Saturday, Sept. 15, at the Dixie Wing Commemorative Air Force Hangar at Falcon Field in Peachtree City. Festivities will begin at 6:30 p.m.
Advance tickets are $50 per person and include Greek appetizers, favorite entrees and outstanding Greek pastries, adult beverages and soft drinks, live entertainment, a silent auction and dancing to the Grecian Echoes.
All parishioners, young and old, are involved in ticket sales, decorating, preparing food, entertaining, serving, cleanup and more.
All proceeds are applied to the building fund. In 2006, the parish purchased ten acres of land on Ebenezer Road in Fayette County. The land mortgage has now been paid off and the next phase of the building program will begin.
St. Christopher Hellenic Orthodox Church, a parish of the Greek Orthodox Archdiocese of North America, serves the southern crescent of metro Atlanta, including Clayton, Coweta, Fayette, south Fulton and Henry counties. Each year St. Christophers supports local charities such as Fayette Samaritans, Fayette County Department of Family and Children Services, St. John the Wonderworker Loaves and Fishes Program, and national charities such as St. Basil’s Academy, an Orthodox orphanage located outside of New York City. The parishioners are also active in local community events.
