Barbara Jeannette Ray, 86, of Peachtree City, Ga., passed away September 1, 2012.
Mrs. Ray was born in Columbus, Ga. to the late James Thomas Clarke and Vita Connell Clarke on August 26, 1926.
Barbara was a graduate of Jordan High School and a member of Morningside Baptist Church in Columbus. She began a career in banking at the First National Bank of Columbus. She held many positions throughout her 37 years of service at the bank even acquiring the position as Asst. Vice President until her retirement. Mrs. Ray was also a member of the American Institute of Banking.
She was preceded in death by her parents and her husband of 51 years Lester Ray.
She is survived by her daughters, Kay Ray Bailey and husband Hank, Peachtree City, Becky Ray Hahn and husband Ray of Franklin, Tenn., Babs Oglesby and husband Wills of Nashville, Tenn.; 12 grandchildren and 13 great-grandchildren; brother Billy Clarke and wife Barbara of Columbus, Ga.
Funeral services were held Wednesday, September 5, 2012 at 11 a.m. at McMullen Funeral Home, Columbus, Ga., with Dr. Kevin Calhoun officiating.
A private interment will be held at Parkhill Cemetery, Columbus. The family received friends Tuesday, September 4, 2012 from 5 to 7 p.m. at the funeral home.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorial donations be made to the Hospice of your choice or your favorite charity.
