As we approach the historic primary vote on July 31, we have a lot to be thankful for.
We are blessed to live in a country where we can debate issues publicly and vote privately.
We have the opportunity to decide issues that are important to us instead of having someone else dictate those decisions for us.
We can change our mind or change our political affiliation without danger of harassment or punishment.
We can choose to vote, or choose not to vote (even if that’s not a good idea).
And we can sleep at night knowing our country has a government that operates under the ”Rule of Law” that makes our July 31 vote final and not subject to disregard by those in power.
But on Aug. 1, the sun will come up and we will all go about our daily lives.
Much has been said about the regional T-SPLOST vote, both pro and con. Some of the debate has unfortunately become heated and personal.I am sure that much more will be said after July 31, whatever the voters decide.
But no matter the outcome, we are a community of citizens with one common goal: to make our city, county, state and nation the best place on this earth.
While I would hope everyone votes “YES” for the T-SPLOST, I want to encourage everyone to at least go vote on July 31.
Your vote counts. Everyone’s vote counts. Go vote.
