Want to hear from the candidates for the 3rd Congressional District and those running for the District 71 seat in the state House of Representatives? You will get your chance on July 2 when the five candidates will square-off at the Wadsworth Auditorium in Newnan.

Candidates seeking the Georgia House Dist. 71 seat include Republicans Darryl Marmon (Sharpsburg) and Robert Stokely (Sharpsburg). Those seeking to best incumbent Congressman Lynn Westmoreland include Chip Flanegan (Jonesboro) and Kent Kingsley (Milner).

The forum is being sponsored by the Newnan-Coweta Chamber and the Coweta GOP.

The candidates forum is not a debate and will follow a modified version of the League of Women Voters.  Each candidate will have two minutes for their opening statement followed by a series of questions vetted from the chamber’s membership. Each will also be allowed a closing statement.

The House Dist. 71 seat became open after Rep. Billy Horne announced his retirement at the end of his current term.

The forum for the Dist. 71 candidates will run from 6-7 p.m. and will be followed by the forum for the Dist. 3 Congressional seat from 7-9 p.m.

There is no charge to attend and seating will be on a first-come, first-seated basis.

Sponsors will not endorse any candidate and the chamber will continue its policy of remaining neutral toward all candidates and will not endorse any candidate for office.

The Wadsworth Auditorium is located at 25 Jefferson Street in downtown Newnan. For more information contact the Newnan-Coweta Chamber at 770-253-2270 or visit info@newnancowetachamber.org
