Peachtree City wants to conduct a stream restoration project that will result in a state waters stream buffer encroachment. Per state law, this type of project requires a stream buffer variance from the Georgia Department of Natural Resources and public notice as such.

The project is located immediately upstream of where the stream crosses under Peachtree Parkway. The stream crosses under Peachtree Parkway approximately 350 feet north of the intersection of Windgate Road and Peachtree Parkway (behind the Peachtree City Church of Christ).

The project would impact approximately 238 linear feet of stream to construct stream and bank restoration measures to improve water quality and aquatic habitat. A concrete dam will be removed and replaced with a step pool structure and the silted pond will be replaced with a vegetated and functioning wetland and stream system.

The public can review plans at the city engineer’s office located at 153 Willowbend Road (lower level of City Hall), Peachtree City, Georgia 30269, between the hours of 8:00 a.m. and 5:00 p.m., Monday through Friday.

The public has 30 days from the date of publication of this notice to comment. Written comments should be submitted to the Program Manager, Non-Point Source Program, Erosion and Sedimentation Control Unit, 4220 International Parkway, Suite 101, Atlanta, Georgia 30354.
