James “Jim” L. Friday, Sr., 73, of Peachtree City, passed away on May 14, 2012.
He was born in Birmingham, Ala., in 1939, graduated from Lee High School in Jacksonville, Fla. in 1957. He then entered the U.S. Navy in 1957, serving aboard submarines until 1966.
He married Marion Forehand in 1957 and was hired as a pilot by Eastern Airlines in 1966. Jim founded Mid-Georgia Courier, Inc. in 1982 and was one of the founders of The Fayette Youth Protection Home in 1988. He was a member of Fayetteville First United Methodist Church.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Narvie “Buck” Friday and Margret Friday.
He is survived by his wife, Marion L. Friday of Peachtree City; sons, Larry (Marie) Friday of Fayetteville, Scott (Jennifer) Friday of Jupiter, Fla.; daughters, Susan (Gary) Lebendiger of Milledgeville, Ga., and Lisa Stephen Friday of Williamstown, Mass.; grandchildren, Julia Allen, Nathan Friday, Kevin Friday, Jackson Friday, Nicki Lebendiger, Kimmy Lebendiger, Ali Lebendiger, Samuel Friday and Amelia Friday; niece Jamie Forehand Moran; great-nephews, Cayden Moran and Logan Moran.
A funeral service will be held on Friday, May 18, 2012 at 11 a.m. at Fayetteville First United Methodist Church, Fayetteville. Mr. Friday will lie in state from 10 to 11 a.m. prior to the service. Rev. Mark Westmoreland will officiate. The burial will follow at Westminster Memorial Gardens, Peachtree City.
The family received friends on Thursday, May 17, 2012 from 5to 8 p.m. at Mowell Funeral Home, Fayetteville.
