Ronald Blaine Gunny, 70, of Newnan, passed away May 1, 2012.

“Gunny” as he was known to most, was a family man who was a great provider and loved his family dearly. He was a loving husband, father, and grandfather.
He was a true patriot at heart and served his country in the U.S. Army. Following his military duty he joined United Airlines as a Ground Service Employee and retired with over 35 years of service.

Gunny was a lover of country music, cars, animals, the Pittsburgh Steelers and the Atlanta Braves.

He was preceded in death by his wife Patricia Ziner Gunny.

He is survived by his daughter, Rhonda Nash of Ft. Worth, Texas; his son Michael Gunny and his wife Susan of Stone Mountain, Ga.; his “furry daughter” Em (dog); grandchildren Jennifer Wohlgemuth of Los Angeles, Calif., Matthew Wohlgemuth and his wife Jennifer of Plano, Texas; great-grandson Bentley Wohlgemuth; brother George Gunny and his wife Betty of Carlsbad, Calif.; sisters Susie Dalton and her husband Larry of Boonesboro, Md. and Cathy Gruber of Ft. Myers, Fla.; along with numerous nieces, nephews, special friends and neighbors, and his United Airlines family.

A memorial service was held on Friday, May 4, 2012 at 2 p.m. at Carl J. Mowell and Son, Fayetteville, with Don Shelley officiating. The family received friends from 1 to 2 p.m. prior to the service.

In lieu of flowers, please make memorial donations to the Roosevelt Warm Springs Institute, P.O. Box 1000, Warm Springs, Ga. 31830 or The Wounded Warrior Association. Interment will take place later in Johnstown, Pa. with Francis Ozog Funeral Home handling the arrangements.
