Al Messick, 77, of Peachtree City, Ga., passed away at home on March 11, 2012 surrounded by his family.
Al loved the Lord, his family, and was a dedicated member of his church. He served as a former chairman of the Board of Trustees and Beautification Committee.
Born August 16, 1934 in Cedar County Mo. Al graduated with a Bachelor of Science degree in chemistry from the University of Missouri. He used this degree to launch a successful business in 1961, Soil Sampler Inc. He proudly served his country and flew the American flag in his yard for 35 years.
Al was the son of the late Onis and Lena Messick. He was preceded in death by his siblings, Ruby and Ray Messick. Survived by his loving wife of 53 years, Mary Lou; his children, Ann (Henry) Stone of Peachtree City, Debbie (Zane) Cooper of Fayetteville, Tom Messick of Peachtree City, and Patty (Carlton) Buchanan of John’s Creek; six grandchildren, Brittany and Courtney Stone, Cole Cooper, Allie, Emily and Annabelle Buchanan; three sisters, Vada Tinsley of El Dorado Springs, Mo., Pearl (Roy) Haynes of Wichita, Kan., Louise Conway of Mexico, Mo.; and sister-in-law, Aletta Messick of Memphis, Tenn.
Memorial Service is March 16, 2012 at 2 p.m. at the Peachtree City United Methodist Church. Family will receive visitation after the service at the church. Donations can be made to Peachtree City United Methodist Church’s Garden of Celebration or to Southwest Christian Hospice in Union City.
