Newnan resident Christina Barber has written both fictional books and short stories in the horror genre and has also written a non-fiction book, “Spirits of Georgia’s Southern Crescent.” She will be at the Days of the Dead convention at the Wyndham Peachtree Conference Center this weekend, discussing her books and her new television show, “Hometown Haunts,” which should debut on Charter this spring.

“We kind of take a different tack from other shows and try to debunk as much as possible,” Barber said. “There’s not always proof of ghostly activity although we have run into some freaky things.”

Barber is doing the show with her daughter, whom she considers the show’s tech guru. The program also focuses on the history of the locations, which Barber feels is very important.

She will be doing more with history as she is also currently working on her next book, tentatively titled “Ghosts of Georgia,” which should be released early in 2013.

Barber is no stranger to conventions like Days of the Dead. She has been appearing at conventions since 2005 and is excited that a horror convention is coming to the area.
