Fayette’s academic teams had all the right answers, sweeping one division and practically two others at the 2012 Griffin RESA Academic Bowl.

The High School Junior Varsity Division was swept by four Fayette high schools: Fayette County High, first place; Whitewater High, second place; Starr’s Mill High, third place; and McIntosh High, fourth place.

The Fayette teams dominated the High School Varsity Division with McIntosh High taking second, Starr’s Mill High placing third, and Whitewater High finishing fourth.

Likewise, the middle school academic teams ruled their division with J.C. Booth earning first place, Rising Starr Middle taking second, and Flat Rock Middle clinching fourth place.

Winners of both the High School Varsity and Junior Varsity divisions advance to the state competition in February.

The RESA Academic Bowl is a regional competition among high schools in the public school systems of Butts, Fayette, Lamar, Newton, Pike, Spalding, and Upson. The season runs from September to January.
