We must change, protect newborns

Several years ago I wrote a letter to the editor comparing abortion today and pagan child sacrifice of ancient times. The pagan rituals involved killing the innocent little ones in hopes the gods would favor you with a good harvest.

Just as then, today we abort our babies, with our nation’s blessing, for our own “good harvest” (our selfish comforts and desires); and just like then we choose the innocent, the most vulnerable and those with no voice to satisfy our desires.

Our country’s founding national document declared, “We are endowed by our Creator with life.” God is the giver of life, but our nation separated itself from our Creator back in the 1960s.

Is it any surprise, in just a short 10 years later, our country’s new gods (same as the old pagan gods) began and continue to demand the blood of innocents, yet again for our convenience.

What are we to do about this ongoing holocaust? The great German theologian Dietrich Bonhoeffer, who was martyred by the Nazis, put it this way, “Not to speak is to speak” and “Not to stand is to stand.” Jesus Christ put it another way, “either you are for me or against me.”

Our nation desperately needs to get back on God’s side. It begins with your changed heart along with your voice to stand for the unborn.
