Danny Elbert Babb, a devoted husband, father, and grandfather, went to heaven on Friday, Dec. 9, 2011 at the age 70.
An Atlanta native, Danny attended Brown High School, graduating in 1959. While serving in the United States Air Force he married his high school sweetheart, Sandra Jean Maddox Babb. Following his time of military service, Danny returned to Atlanta to operate the family business, Babb Manufacturing Company.
Danny and Sandra have lived in Fayetteville for over 35 years where they have been active members of Flat Creek Baptist Church. An avid gardener Danny spent his retirement years working in his garden as well as traveling the world with Sandra and sharing in the lives of their children and grandchildren.
Danny loved Jesus and faithfully served his Lord and Saviour through his church, on mission trips, in the community and as a Gideon, all the while looking forward to living with Him in heaven.
Danny was preceded in death by parents, Elbert and Helen Babb, and a brother, Mickey Babb.
He is survived by his wife of 51 years, Sandra Maddox Babb, his children, Chris and Sherri Babb of Haralson, Ga., Janet and David Roberts of Fayetteville, Julie and Drew McSwain of Fayetteville, and Jill and Steve Ziegler of Brownsville, Tenn.
He is also survived by grandchildren Joseph Babb, Phillip Babb, Emily Roberts, Jonathan Roberts, Elizabeth Babb, Daniel McSwain, David McSwain, Skyla Ziegler and Saylor Ziegler; brother, Gary Babb, nieces and nephews, and beloved in-laws Cheryl, Jerry and Debra, Beverly, Jack and Carolyn.
A funeral service was held on Monday, Dec. 12, 2011 at 11 a.m. in the Chapel of Mowell Funeral Home, Fayetteville, with Reverend Jerry Cross.
Danny’s family received friends on Sunday, Dec. 11 from 2 – 5 p.m. at the funeral home.
